Kyrgyzstan plans to pay bonuses for shooting wolves and jackals

Bishkek, June 1, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development of Kyrgyzstan submits for public discussion the draft of the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution "On Amendments to the Government Resolution "On the regulation of the number of wolf and jackal on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic" of Feb. 26, 2016".

The draft is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of measures to protect public health, eliminate the threat to human life, protect farm and other domestic animals from disease, prevent harm to agriculture, wildlife and their habitat, and is also intended to intensify work to regulate the number of wolves and jackals.

At the same time, the project envisages remuneration for each extracted head, taking into account income tax and social deductions, without taking the skin, but making special marks on it.

Every year the number of wolves and jackals throughout the country is increasing, they cause great damage and have a significant negative impact on the growth of the number of wild and domestic animals, causing damage to the local population and the budget of the country as a whole.

These wild predators are also spreaders of the rabies virus in the external environment and are the main sources of infection of farm animals and humans.

Currently, activities to regulate the number of wolves and jackals are carried out regularly by full-time employees of the state environmental agency. During the 12 months of 2020, full-time employees harvested 26 wolves and 74 jackals.
