Bishkek, Nov. 25, 2024. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan aims to achieve $1 billion worth of berry exports by 2030, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industries of the country said Monday.
The Agriculture Ministry will assist berry growers in transforming land to create infrastructure, including logistics centers and processing facilities, as well as provide access of cluster participants to preferential lending and government support.
Thus, the Ministry and the Association of Berry Growers of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The sides agreed on joint efforts to develop the berry industry, including the transfer of authority to the Association to manage the cluster of berry growers and coordinate industry participants. The memorandum also provides for certification of seedlings in accordance with national and international standards, including recommendations of the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV).
Special attention is paid to the introduction of international standards for product safety and quality, such as HASP, ISO, GlobalG.A.P., BRCGS and IFS, which will help domestic products meet the requirements of world markets and significantly increase their export potential.
Implementation of these measures is aimed at increasing production volumes, improving product competitiveness and achieving the goal of $1 billion worth of berry exports by 2030.
