Kyrgyzstan plans to vaccinate 70% of its population by beginning of 2022

Bishkek, Aug. 17, 2021 . / Kabar / . It is planned to vaccinate 70% of the population of Kyrgyzstan by Jan. 1, 2022, Health Minister of the republic Alymkadyr Beishenaliev told reporters on Tuesday.

He added the currently Kyrgyzstan’s vaccine rollout stands at 586,000.

"Stuff of some agencies has been fully vaccinated. According to the latest data, 38% of the country's population has been infected with coronavirus," the minister noted.

Beishenaliev said that if 70% of the country’s population are vaccinated, there won't be a fourth wave of COVID-19.

Kyrgyzstan has started COVID-19 vaccine jabs on March 29.

The country's tally of coronavirus infection has reached 172,668 since the first case was detected on March 18, 2020.

Number of recoveries from the disease stands at 163,810, while the death toll has amounted to 2,457.
