Bishkek, Nov. 18, 2020 / Kabar /. The Kyrgyz government proposes to postpone the introduction of compulsory motor third party liability (CMTPL) insurance until Jan. 1, 2023, the head of the State Service for Regulation and Supervision of the Financial Market Arzybek Kozhoshev told at a press conference.
He explained that for foreign cars that are in Kyrgyzstan, CMTPL insurance will be introduced from July 1, 2021, for state, municipal, legal, cars and passenger carriers - on Jan. 1, 2022, for the general population - on Jan. 1, 2023.
Kozhoshev explained that the decision was made due to a difficult time in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
“In general, today the country is in a difficult economic situation and due to the influence of the economic crisis, the purchasing power and Acting President, Acting Prime Minister Artem Novikov made such a decision,” he said.
The government will develop an appropriate bill and submit it to the Parliament.
Thus, the introduction of the CMTPL insurance policy has been postponed by one year from the previously approved terms.
The law on CMTPL insurance was adopted back in 2015.
