Bishkek, June 2, 2020. /Kabar/. The population census in Kyrgyzstan has been postponed indefinitely, Kabar Agency has learnt from the press service of the National Statistics Committee of the republic.
Previously, March 23, 2020 was set as date for general population census. It was also planned to conduct the census in remote and inaccessible areas of Kyrgyzstan on Apr. 20-29, 2020.
"Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was decided to conduct a census from Apr. 20 in all parts of the country. However, as the epidemic continues, the census terms have been postponed for an unknown period," the report says.
The Committee noted the census process is planned to be held by the end of the year. Preparation for the process is 90% completed.
