Bishkek, June 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Health and Social Development of Kyrgyzstan is preparing for an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 by deploying additional beds, Deputy Health Minister Zhalalidin Rakhmatullaev told a briefing Tuesday.
He added 3,334 beds are prepared in 35 makeshift hospitals, and about 1.5 thousand beds in reserve.
"In addition, it is planned to increase the number of beds up to 6 thousand. 3 thousand doctors and over 6 thousand nurses are prepared to work in the red zone. Makeshift hospitals have prepared a sufficient amount of medicines and PPE," the deputy health minister said.
"Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 2 peaks in COVID-19 incidence - in July and November of 2020, and to date there has been a third wave with a rise in incidence since April 2021," Rakhmatullaev added.
He noted that over the past 7 days, the reproductive number (contagion) Rt spread rate was 1.3.
"The first case of coronavirus infection in the republic was registered on March 18, 2020. Two waves with peak incidence in July - the number of people infected made 1600 in one day, the second wave was observed from October to November months - at peak incidence the number of people falling ill reached 606 people," he said.
