Bishkek, Sept. 4, 2020. /Kabar/. The General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan checks the preparation of polling stations for voting for persons with disabilities.
According to the press service of the main supervisory body, the Prosecutor General's Office within the framework of its powers has organized checks on compliance with the law on the preparation of polling stations for voting by executive authorities and local governments.
At the same time, it is noted that the procuratorial bodies pay special attention to ensuring conditions for the exercise of voting rights of persons with disabilities and the maximum possible accessibility of the voting area.
It was found that separate premises of the polling stations were not equipped with special devices - ramps, handrails, help call buttons, which meet the needs of voters with disabilities, as well as not provided with telephone communication.
In this regard, the Prosecutor's Office introduced 7 instructions to eliminate violations of the law, on which appropriate measures are taken.
The elections to the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) are set for Oct. 4, 2020.
