Kyrgyzstan increases production of meat and dairy products

Bishkek, Feb.14, 2020. /Kabar/. In January 2020, Kyrgyzstan produced about 30,000 tons of meat and 80,000 tons of milk, the press service of the Agriculture Ministry of the country reported.

"In January 2020, economic entities of all categories of the republic produced 29.9 thousand tons of meat in live weight, which is 498 tons, or 1.7% more than the same period last year," the report says.

The increase in meat production in the republic is due to the growth of the number of farm animals, except pigs.

According to the National Statistics Committee, as of Jan.1, 2020, the number of cattle increased by 53.1 thousand heads, and amounted to 1 million 680.4 thousand heads, and the number of pigs decreased by 16.5 thousand and amounted to 34.7 thousand.

All regions of the republic produced more meat than the corresponding period in 2019.

In addition, it is reported that in January 2020, milk production in the country amounted to 78.8 thousand tons, which is 1 thousand 538 tons, or 2% more than in the same period last year.

Milk production has been increased in all regions of the country. The increase is due to the growth of the number of cows by 22.3 thousand heads.

For the reporting period, 30 million 268 thousand eggs were produced in the republic, which is 1 million 229 thousand more, or 104,2% more compared the same period last year.

"The increase in egg production in the republic occurs at the expense of growth of the population of poultry by 201,4 thousand heads. A slight decline in egg production in January 2020 is observed in Osh Oblast (92.5%). The reasons are being specified," the report says.
