Bishkek, Dec. 18, 2018. / Kabar /. Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Abdrakhmanov met with Minister of Finance of the State of Kuwait, Dr. Naif Falah Al Hajraf.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, at the meeting the sides noted the positive results of the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Kuwaiti intergovernmental commission on economic and technical cooperation, which was held in April 2018 in El Kuwait.
Abdrakhmanov noted that the work within the framework of the intergovernmental commission is an effective format for the development of bilateral relations and expansion of cooperation. The developed mechanism made it possible to determine the points of contact and impart to them the necessary impulse. Given the upcoming anniversary year of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait, it was proposed to hold the second meeting of the IGC in June-July 2019 in Bishkek.
Taking into account the chairmanship of the Minister of Finance on the board of the General Directorate for Investment of Kuwait, the Kyrgyz side was invited to consider the possibility of Kuwaiti’s participation in the creation of an Islamic bank in the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, energy, health and a number of other sectors were promising for cooperation.
The sides noted the importance of the agreements signed in 2015 between the governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the State of Kuwait on the avoidance of double taxation, on the promotion and mutual protection of investments, on the establishment of air traffic, which will create new opportunities for increasing trade between countries.
