Bishkek, March 22, 2022 / Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan offered Turkmenistan to speed up the opening of the Kyrgyz-Turkmen Development Fund. This was noted during a bilateral meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev and his counterpart from Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov as part of a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Islamabad.
Positively assessing the current level of bilateral cooperation, the heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries discussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-Turkmen cooperation in the trade, economic and investment spheres, cooperation on energy supplies, agriculture, light industry, tourism and transport and transit issues. They also touched upon the issues of organizing and holding upcoming political events, mutual visits at various levels, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.
Further, the Kyrgyz side proposed to expedite consideration of the issue of creating the Kyrgyz-Turkmen Development Fund in order to launch its work this year.
In addition, the ministers exchanged views on the forthcoming Fourth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, emphasizing the uniqueness and importance of this platform at the highest level in the development and deepening of regional cooperation.
The sides also discussed issues of international and regional security, including the situation around Ukraine, the ministry added.
