Kyrgyzstan proposes UK to hold investment forum

As part of a working visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev held talks with Minister for South and Central Asia, the UN and the Commonwealth, Lord Tariq Ahmad.

The sides summed up the results of 30 years of cooperation between the two countries since the establishment of bilateral relations and noted the importance of their further development in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.

During the meeting, it was stated that there is a large unrealized potential in bilateral relations, especially in the trade and economic sphere.

Adylbek Kasymaliev noted such promising areas for the development of cooperation between countries as agriculture, light industry, renewable energy sources, green, digital and creative economy.

Particular attention was paid to the potential of Kyrgyzstan in the export of clean drinking water and the possibility of organizing its supply to the British market.

Kasymaliev stressed that Kyrgyzstan, as a mountainous country, is a unique location for foreign tourists, and therefore there are great opportunities for the development of joint projects in the field of mountain tourism.

As part of the intensification of economic cooperation, the Kyrgyz side proposed holding a Kyrgyz-British investment forum with the participation of businessmen of the two countries, who during the event can offer mutually beneficial projects to each other.

Adylbek Kasymaliev also noted the importance of strengthening the legal framework between the states and expressed hope for speeding up the consideration of draft agreements in various fields, previously submitted to the British side.

The British minister, in turn, thanked the government delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic for the visit and proposals for strengthening and developing bilateral relations.

Lord Tariq Ahmad noted the readiness of the British side to consider them, as well as to provide support in their implementation.
