Bishkek, Dec.27, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan provides state subsidies for seed production, Zhigitali Zhumaliyev, Head of the Department of Agricultural Development, Seed Production and Organic Farming of the Ministry of Agriculture told reporters.
He said in order to provide state support to agricultural producers in providing high-quality certified seed material for crops and create favorable conditions for seed farms in the KR, for the production and sale of high-quality certified seed varieties of priority crops, the Law of the Kyrgyz republic “On state subsidy in seed production” was signed on Feb.2, 2019.
“This law has laid the legal foundation for the solution of two major, interrelated problems that hinder the development of seed production in the country.
Firstly, agricultural producers will be able to purchase varieties of certified seeds at lower prices, which has a positive impact on improving yields and quality of products. Secondly, it will allow seed farms to fully sell grown seeds at subsidized prices, thus strengthening their financial position and significantly increasing production volumes of certified seed varieties," Zhumaliyev said.
