Bishkek, Jan.8, 2020. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Qatar Chyngyz Eshimbekov met on Monday with Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The meeting took place in Doha at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of activation of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of investments.
Ambassador Eshimbekov informed about the investment potential of Kyrgyzstan, and proposed a number of priority directions for cooperation.
The Kyrgyz and Qatari sides agreed to work together on promising and mutually beneficial projects.
The Qatar Investment Authority is Qatar's state-owned holding company that can be characterized as a sovereign wealth fund.
It specializes in domestic and foreign investment. The QIA was founded by the State of Qatar in 2005 to strengthen the country's economy by diversifying into new asset classes.
The fund is a member of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds, and is therefore a signatory of the Santiago Principles on best practices in managing sovereign wealth funds.
