Bishkek, Aug. 5, 2020. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed the Law "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Governments of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on joint actions for construction of a new bridge and reconstruction of the existing bridge between the Ak-Tilek-Avtodorozhnyi (Kyrgyzstan) and Karasu – Avtodorozhnyi (Kazakhstan) checkpoints, signed on Nov. 27, 2019 in Bishkek”, his press service reported.
The Law was adopted by the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on June 25, 2020.
The purpose of the Agreement is to create favorable conditions for mutual trade, improve trade and economic relations between the regions of the two countries through the reconstruction of the existing bridge and the construction of a new bridge between the checkpoints of the states.
Bridges will be built simultaneously by each Party on a parity basis within its territory.
Approximate cost of the bridge construction is KGS 87 million.
After completion of the new bridge construction and reconstruction of the existing, bridges will be transferred to the ownership of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in equal shares, operation and maintenance will be carried out by each Party within its territory.
The Law will come into force 10 days after its official publication.
