Kyrgyzstan ratifies agreement with Russia on creation of Joint Air Defense System

Bishkek, Oct. 12, 2023. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the ratification of the Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation on the creation of a Joint Regional Air Defense System of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation, signed on August 16, 2022 in Moscow.”

The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on October 11, 2023.

The adopted Law is aimed at the implementation by Kyrgyzstan of internal state procedures for the entry into force of the said Agreement.

In order to improve air defense in the region, the Parties are creating a Joint Regional Air Defense System of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation, which is an integral part of the joint air defense system of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The creation of a Joint Regional Air Defense System between Kyrgyzstan and Russia will ensure more reliable protection of the airspace of both countries. It will also enhance security and protect national interests.

Ratification of this agreement confirms Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to strengthening strategic relations with Russia and contributes to the development of further cooperation in the field of defense and security between the two countries.
