Bishkek, Sept. 27, 2021 . / Kabar / . Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with UN Secretary General António Gutteres during his visit to New York to participate in the high-level events of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that Ruslan Kazakbaev conveyed congratulations on behalf of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov on the secretary general's re-election for a second term.

"The foreign minister of Kyrgyzstan also informed the UN secretary general about the ongoing political transformations in the republic, including the upcoming parliamentary elections on Nov. 28 this year.
He reported on the priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic in achieving the goals of sustainable development, development of mountain regions, protection of human rights, economic development, building a green economy, environmental protection and asked for further UN support for these areas," the report said.
In turn, the UN secretary general expressed support for the Kyrgyz president's initiatives to hold the UN-Central Asia Summit and the Decade of Mountainous Regions Development.

In conclusion, the sides discussed and emphasized the importance of early stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.
In view of the ongoing evacuation of UN agencies from Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz side expressed its willingness to temporarily host them in Bishkek.
António Gutteres sent warm wishes to Sadyr Zhaparov and expressed hope to meet with him in the near future.
