Kyrgyzstan receives 52 tons of vegetable oil from Russia as food aid

Bishkek, Dec. 12, 2023. / Kabar/. Another batch of food aid has arrived in Kyrgyzstan from Russia, the press service of the UN World Food Program (WFP) reported.

52.22 tons of vegetable oil were delivered to the WFP warehouse in Osh.

Food will be distributed to approximately 14,990 people to improve their food security as a reward for participating in WFP-supported projects in the southern regions of the country. Projects include:

 restoration of irrigation networks and drinking water supply systems;

 planting trees and strengthening river banks to reduce risks;

 construction of rural bridges and drainage systems;

 Capacity building trainings for livelihood development and good agricultural practices.

Targeted vulnerable families will receive 300 kilograms of fortified wheat flour and 30 liters of cooking oil in exchange for participation in community projects aimed at rebuilding local infrastructure and increasing community resilience to disaster risks and shocks associated with climate change.

Participants in capacity building training will receive 150 kg of fortified wheat flour and 15 liters of vegetable oil.
