Bishkek, Dec. 10, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev held a meeting with Head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Office in Kyrgyzstan Baktybek Kainazarov.
The Kyrgyz Health Ministry reported that during the meeting, the sides considered cooperation issues in such areas as family planning, improving the quality of services in medical institutions in the field of reproductive health.
Baktybek Kainazarov noted that UNFPA is transferring the first batch of carbetocin, a modern drug for prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage, to maternity hospitals in Kyrgyzstan.
“Within the framework of humanitarian aid, 17 thousand packages totaling $92 thousand were supplied for 170 thousand women to prevent postpartum hemorrhage,” he said.
In turn, Alymkadyr Beishenaliev expressed gratitude to the Fund for supporting the country's health care system.
“This drug makes it possible to significantly reduce the risk of postpartum complications and save the lives of mothers. Unlike oxytocin, this drug does not require a cold chain and is effective when administered once. We are grateful to UNFPA for the support that will help us save mothers' lives and ensure safe delivery, especially in remote areas,” the minister emphasized.
In addition, carbetocin will soon be introduced into clinical practice, which will be an important contribution to reducing maternal mortality and improving the reproductive and maternal health of women across the country.
