Bishkek, Aug. 8, 2022. / Kabar /. 100,620 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech arrived in Kyrgyzstan on Aug. 7under the COVAX mechanism, Director of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis Gulbara Ishenapysova told.

“The expected number of doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Kyrgyzstan, but for unknown reasons, the vaccines arrived without solvent. Negotiations are underway to find out the reasons. We do our best to help the people. Anyone who urgently travels outside of Kyrgyzstan and who already has a ticket in hand can call (0703) 126 442 and get advice on getting vaccinated. We ask the rest of the citizens to treat the current situation with understanding,” Ishenapysova noted.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is approved by the World Health Organization for emergency use.

The effectiveness of the vaccine is 95%. The protective effect begins to develop 12 days after the first dose, but to ensure complete protection, vaccination with two doses is required, which WHO recommends to be administered 21–28 days apart.
