Bishkek, May 15, 2020. /Kabar/. In April 2020, significant downturn in Kyrgyzstan's economy has been registered, the press service of the National Statistics Committee of the republic said.
Thus, the gross domestic product in January-April 2020, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to about KGS 149 billion, and decreased by 3.8% compared to January-April 2019.
Without the enterprises involved in the development of Kumtor field, the GDP volume in January-April 2020 amounted to about KGS 129 billion, and decreased by 4.6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-April 2020 amounted to about KGS 99 billion, and decreased by 2.8% compared to January-April last year due to the reduction in production of refined oil products (by 63.1%), other non-metallic mineral products (by 36.7%), leather and leather goods, footwear (by 27.6%) and drinks (by 11.9%).
Negative trends were observed in construction, where the decline in volumes made 5.6%, wholesale and retail trade - 8%, while in agriculture, on the contrary, there was an increase in volumes by 0.2%.
In January-April 2020 (as compared to December last year), consumer prices and tariffs for the whole country increased by 5.0%, which was caused by the growth of prices for food products and soft drinks by 10.1%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products - by 5.2%, as well as services - by 0.1%.
At the same time, in April this year prices for non-food products decreased by 0.2% compared to December last year.
The increase in consumer prices and tariffs in January-April this year compared to December 2019 was observed in all regions of the country.
Meanwhile, their maximum increase (7.1%) was recorded in Talas Oblast.
