Bishkek, Dec.10, 2024. /Kabar/. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov met with Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia (OHCHR) Matilda Bogner.
The meeting was timed to December 10 - International Human Rights Day, the date of adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the press service of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Minister reported Tuesday.
Edil Baisalov emphasized the unwavering commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to the protection of human rights, adherence to the rule of law and strengthening democratic institutions.
The sides discussed the preparation of the national report under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), paying special attention to the process of national consultations with the active participation of civil society representatives.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to topical issues in the field of human rights protection, including the need to strengthen institutional support and coordination within the framework of the activities of the Coordination Council for Human Rights under the Cabinet of Ministers.
Prospects for expanding cooperation with the UN OHCHR, including the provision of technical assistance for the implementation of key initiatives in this area were also discussed.
