Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2020 /Kabar/. The Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic is resuming work on providing free legal aid to the population through the Bus Solidarity project.
According to the press service of the Justice Ministry, mobile groups formed from specialists of territorial state bodies will start to travel to settlements of Chui Oblast from November 12, and to Osh Oblast - from Nov.13.
The Bus Solidarity will cover two settlements in one day. Population meetings with specialists will be held in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological standards due to spread of coronavirus infection in the country.
Citizens will be able to receive free legal advice on issues of civil, family, labor, land law, state social insurance and pension provision, registration of population and civil status acts, etc.
Earlier, within the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs-UNDP project “Towards sustainable access to justice in the Kyrgyz Republic”, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Justice received two Nissan Urvan.
The main objective of this initiative is to help people solve their legal issues. The ultimate aim of this activity is to increase the legal literacy of the population. Bus of Solidarity is a team of lawyers, notary officers, social workers and other specialists from the Ministry of Justice, the Social Fund, the State Registration Service, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, who go to the remote regions of the country using a special vehicle to provide a free legal support to the population. The bus goes according to a preliminary planned schedule. The local authorities, namely the aiyl okmotu, notify the residents in advance about the arrival of Bus of Solidarity.
This idea came to the NGOs and the local authorities in Paris city, where there were very many illegal migrants, who were afraid of applying to the official authorities. As a result, the idea to implement the project Bus of Solidarity in Kyrgyzstan was included into the Action plan of the Concept on raising the legal culture of the population.
The Ministry of Justice has started to implement this project since 2016. The activity of the project has been improving from year to year. From 2016 - 2019 “the Solidarity Bus” has visited 1167 settlements and over 13 thousand people have received the legal support.
