Bishkek, April 4, 2024 / Kabar/. Repair work has already begun in Kyrgyzstan for the upcoming autumn-winter period, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov told at a parliamentary meeting today.
According to him, the volume of water in the Toktogul reservoir as of April 1 amounted to 7.3 billion cubic meters. “We predicted this volume in 2024 at around 7 billion cubic meters. The reason for this was the low-water period. During this winter period there were no problems when the water froze in such outdoor pools as in Mailuu-Suu. Because last year we thoroughly checked all boiler rooms, and repair work was carried out on time. Reserve boiler houses have also been prepared,” Zhaparov said and noted that preparations for the upcoming winter protection period have already begun.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers informed that the second unit at the Toktogul hydroelectric station was put into operation in December of this year, which made it possible to increase capacity by 60 MW.
“Yes, this year a big problem has arisen at the Bishkek thermal power plant. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the neighboring countries - Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan - for their help, which we did not even have time to ask for. This is all thanks to the established policy of the head of state,” Zhaparov said.
The chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers said that in Urumqi he met with representatives of the TBEA company, who built the third and fourth blocks of the capital's thermal power plant. “They were supposed to check these blocks for five years, but since there was a big scandal on the Kyrgyz side, they did not come. This year is already the seventh year. We have talked with them, and we ask the same company to carry out major repairs in these blocks, since they built them,” he said.
