Kyrgyzstan returns its soldier detained in attack by Tajik side

Bishkek, July 10, 2021 . / Kabar /. As a result of negotiations between border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on June 9, serviceman of the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (SCNS), warrant officer Umarov, who was detained earlier during the attack by servicemen of the Tajik State Committee for National Security, was handed over to the Kyrgyz side.

The press service of the SCNS reported that border guard of the Kyrgyz Republic and serviceman Umarov arrived in Kyrgyzstan through the checkpoint "Kairagach-Avtodorozhnyi".

The border guard's state of health is assessed as satisfactory.

As of July 10, 2021, the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border in Batken Oblast is stable.

On July 8, 2021, at about 5 p.m. on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in the area of the Chashmagildan pass, the border guard unit of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan was suddenly attacked by Tajik border guards. An exchange of fire occurred between the servicemen.

As a result of the attack by Tajik side, 27-year-old soldier of the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security, sergeant Khusnidin Khozhiyev died.
