Kyrgyzstan, Russia fully switch to ruble settlements

Bishkek, July 20, 2022. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and Russia have fully switched to settlements in rubles, Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev said at a briefing in Bishkek.

He noted that prices of fuel and lubricants are growing in Russia, respectively, the price is growing in Kyrgyzstan.

"As you know, there is a strengthening of the ruble. Recently we have moved away from the dollar, and switched to calculations in rubles. When there was dollar and euro volatility, we used to make settlements in dollars with Russia for the supply of fuels and lubricants. Today, after switching to rubles, the Russian currency began to strengthen up to 38% and, accordingly, this growth in recalculation of national currencies," the minister added.

Amangeldiev noted that the main groups of goods were already settled in rubles.

"The group of goods for fuel and lubricants was traded, in accordance with the contracts and the requirement of the company itself, in dollars. Because of the sanctions against Russia and the disconnection of Russian banks from the SWIFT system, there were problems with payments. Therefore, our companies saw difficulties in settlements. Money was hanging up in the accounts. That's why it was decided to switch to settlements in rubles," he added.
