Kyrgyzstan sees 30% up in domestic violence during quarantine

Bishkek, Dec. 29, 2020. /Kabar/. During the quarantine period (March, April, May), domestic violence increased by 30% in Kyrgyzstan, and growth by 65% was observed in the capital city of Bishkek, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development of the republic Ulan Mamatkanov said at meeting at the Government House on Tuesday.

He specified that from March 22 to May 10 this year, 536 (462 in last year) +74, or +13.8% of cases of domestic violence were registered in territories where the state of emergency was imposed.

Of these:

- In Bishkek city- 473 (414);

- In the city of Osh – 18 (16);

- In Kara-Suu region of Osh Oblast – 14 (14);

- In Nookat region of Osh Oblast – 6 (3);

- In Dzhalal-Abad town – 8 (7);

- In Suzak region of Dzhalal-Abad Oblast – 8 (5);

- In Naryn town – 6 (2);

- In At-Bashy region of Naryn Oblast – 3 (1).
