Kyrgyzstan sends note to Turkish MFA due to seizure of passport of Kyrgyz citizen at Istanbul airport

Bishkek, Oct.8, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, asking for a prompt resolution of the situation with the Kyrgyz citizen from whom the passport was confiscated, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

Information that a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic cannot leave the territory of Turkey due to the confiscation of his passport by Turkish law enforcement agencies appeared on social networks and a number of media.

According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the Turkish competent authorities imposed an arrest on the general civil passport of a N.E., citizen of Kyrgyzstan in connection with the suspicion of forgery of the document, which is currently under examination by the Turkish side.

Consular officials of the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Istanbul held several meetings and negotiations with the Turkish prosecutor (Istanbul Palace of Justice). The Kyrgyz side expressed a request to return the passport and to stop the investigation, as well as to lift the ban on exit from Turkey of citizen N.E.

The relevant note from the Kyrgyz side has been sent to the Turkish Foreign Ministry with a request to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

The Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Istanbul keeps the abovementioned issue under control and is in constant contact with the citizen of Kyrgyzstan N.E.
