Kyrgyzstan sets limits on electricity consumption for all its regions

Bishkek, Nov. 23, 2021 . / Kabar / . The National Energy Holding of Kyrgyzstan urges Kyrgyzstanis to be careful with electricity consumption.

The company’s press service reported that in order to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted power supply, the Government of Kyrgyzstan prepares sectors of the economy and the population for the autumn-winter period.

Based on calculations of water and energy regimes of Toktogul reservoir water use and forecast data, limits are established on the inflow of water for all regions of the country.

In the period from April to September 2021, the actual inflow to the Toktogul HPP was significantly less than the last four years. Therefore, measures were taken to import and interchange electric energy from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

For the period of April-October months, Kyrgyzstan’s limit of electricity consumption was exceeded by 530 million kWh, or 10.4%.
