Bishkek, Feb. 16, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan should provide itself with a vegetable oil at least by 50%, Prime Minister of the republic Ulukbek Maripov said during a live on his Facebook page.
He stated that in the last 6 months the food prices have increased. In particular, the head of the government stressed the vegetable oil rose in price by 163%.
"We have analyzed reasons for the prices growth, whether real steps have been taken to solve the issue or it was bought at high prices abroad,” he said.
The prime minister told how the government intends to reduce prices. First, talks will be held with major producers, such as Russia and Kazakhstan. Secondly, it is planned to organize on a permanent basis fairs like those held in Bishkek and Osh cities.
Ulukbek Maripov also said the Ministry of Agriculture is facing task to make sure that Kyrgyzstan provides itself with a vegetable oil at least by 50%.
In addition, the head of the government added KGS 6 million were allocated to commercial banks under the Agriculture Financing – 9 project.
