Bishkek, Dec. 1, 2021. / Kabar / . Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Erkinbek Osoyev met with a delegation of the Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation under the President of the Republic of Korea, headed by its Chairman Chong Soo Park.
The press service of the Transport Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reported that during the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further bilateral cooperation in the construction of roads and railroads, as well as road tunnels.
The Kyrgyz sides presented the information on investment projects - railway transport and construction of roads and tunnels.
In particular, the "Reconstruction of the Bishkek Bypass Road" project was presented.
Implementation of this project, which involves attraction of investments and development of the feasibility study, will also allow transit cargo and passenger vehicles to follow the route without entering Bishkek and, accordingly, will reduce the level of emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air of the capital.
The Balykchy-Kochkor-Kara-Keche railroad construction project, which was also presented during the meeting, will provide for the transportation of coal from the Kara-Keche field to the thermal power plant in Bishkek and to other northern regions of the country by rail. This section will also connect the northern and southern regions of the country during the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, which will provide access to new markets.
The "Electrification of the Turksib - Balykchy Railway Section" project was also presented to the delegation of the Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation under the President of the Republic of Korea. Successful implementation of the project will contribute to promoting international exchange and achieving Kyrgyzstan's economic development strategy goals and give impetus to increase the railroad capacity, take advantage of the electricity source and improve the useful use of energy sources.
Given the scale of these projects and the need to attract investment for their implementation, which are also included in the Road Sector Development Strategy until 2030, their implementation is planned in the framework of public-private partnership.
Head of the foreign delegation Chong Soo Park informed that many South Korean companies specializing in the construction of roads, tunnels and railroads have great experience and capacity to implement these projects. He also noted the need for Korean investors to meet with representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the Kyrgyz Republic.
