Bishkek, Feb.24, 2020. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, from 1996 to 2018, $1 billion 956 million was allocated for road construction and repair, Minister of Transport and Road of the country Zhanat Beishenov said at a meeting of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament).
According to him, these are credit and grant funds.
"These funds were used to reconstruct 2,079 km of roads, of which 310 km are under construction. In addition, tunnels and overpass bridges have been built," the minister said.
Loans and grants for road rehabilitation were provided by international financial institutions, including the China Exim Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.
