Bishkek, March 26, 2020 / Kabar /. The Republican headquarters on coronavirus considered the issue of resuming freight transportation by road across the Kyrgyz-Chinese state border. The corresponding note is sent to a neighboring country, Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erkin Asrandiev told.
The press service of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic said that the relevant state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic have been instructed to carry out preparatory work with the Chinese side to resume freight traffic at the Torugart and Irkeshtam checkpoints. It was also instructed to develop a mechanism and algorithm for the actions of this process, taking into account the creation of conditions for Kyrgyz freight carriers.
An analysis of the commodity structure of imports from China showed that the closure of the border significantly affected the activities of light and textile enterprises, as well as equipment supplies.
The Kyrgyz-Chinese border was closed on Jan. 23, 2020.
