Kyrgyzstan strengthens measures to check cargo carriers for COVID-19

Bishkek, Apr. 27, 2020. /Kabar/. Measures to check cargo carriers entering the Kyrgyz Republic for the presence of COVID-19 are being strengthened. This became known at a meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Preventing Import and Further Spread of Coronavirus.

To date, rapid testing of all truckers crossing the border is carried out. In case of a positive result, the drivers are place under observation until PCR analysis results are ready.

"It is important for us to continue to ensure that trucks cross our borders unhindered, and that food and other essential goods arrive on time. Today, however, in order to ensure health security, we need to strengthen controls in this area without creating difficulties for truckers. Much attention needs to be paid to the further movement of carriers between regions.

The algorithm of actions during the checks of truckers will be changed towards increased control of their location, PCR analysis and compliance with the rules of self-isolation and restriction of contacts after the delivery of cargo until the results of the analysis," stressed First Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov.

Besides, issues related to the activity of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Internal Affairs, governors were discussed at the meeting.

Relevant state bodies have been instructed to improve the algorithm for controlling the entry and further movement of cargo carriers in Kyrgyzstan.

As of Apr. 27, 13 new cases of novel coronavirus infection have been identified in Kyrgyzstan, 695 in total, including 183 cases among medical workers.

395 people have recovered and discharged from hospitals, 8 have passed away.
