Bishkek, Nov.20, 2019 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan sums up the results of the Tumar campaign, which was held under the auspices of President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Minister of Social Development and Labour Aliza Soltonbekova said at the press conference.
According to her, the purpose of the campaign was to collect signatures against child abuse.
"According to preliminary data, more than 10 thousand people signed this information campaign. It was held in 11 cities of the country - points of growth. We tried to cover adults, whose children study at schools, go to the kindergarten, where meetings were held. This campaign is informational in nature, and the signatory accepts the manifesto on the prevention of violence of any form against children,” said the deputy minister.
World Children's Day, as well as the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the 25th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's accession to the treaty are celebrated today.
In turn, UNICEF Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Christine Jaulmes said that within the framework of the Tumar campaign, a study was conducted, which revealed that three out of four children in the country experienced violence.
“In this regard, our goal will be to eradicate this indicator of violence against children. This campaign was also supported by President Sooronbay Jeenbekov. The organization works closely with the Government, the Parliament to revise the laws, the normative legal acts to eliminate violence against children.
Through Tumar, we call on society to abandon any form of punishment of children, both physical and psychological, and advocate for a more educational approach to parenting,” Christine Jaulmes said.
