Kyrgyzstan supports peace process and reconciliation in Afghanistan

Bishkek, Jan. 20, 2018 / Kabar /. Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev expressed support of the Kyrgyz side of initiatives aimed at supporting the peace process and reconciliation in Afghanistan.

Kyrgyz FM took part in the events of the UN Security Council in New York, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of the republic reported.

One of the events was a debate with the participation of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian republics and Afghanistan on the topic "Building a regional partnership in Afghanistan and Central Asia as a model for the interdependence of security and development."

Speaking at the debate the Kyrgyz FM expressed support of the Kyrgyz side of initiatives aimed at supporting the peace process and reconciliation in Afghanistan. He stressed that in a complex situation in the region, the solid cooperation between the countries of the region is of the utmost importance for the promotion of stability and prosperity in Afghanistan

In addition, the Minister emphasized the importance of improving the cooperation of Afghanistan and the countries of the region, including the countries of Central Asia, through enhanced cooperation and, in particular, the introduction of regional infrastructure, trade, investment, transit and transport projects.
