Kyrgyzstan, Sweden discuss topical issues of bilateral co-op

Bishkek, Jan.30, 2020. /Kabar/. First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nuran Niyazaliyev met with Åsa Lindestam, First Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament.

In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Sweden, including cooperation at multilateral platforms, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

They also noted the importance of consistent development of relations between the countries in the direction of strengthening trade and economic relations, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as in the field of ecology and climate change.

Nuran Niyazaliyev and Åsa Lindestam agreed that inter-parliamentary cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Sweden should be developed not only in bilateral format, but also within the framework of inter-parliamentary organizations, in order to mutually support constructive initiatives.

The first deputy speaker of the Swedish Parliament, highly assessing Kyrgyzstan’s success in the implementation of democratic processes, noted the country became the leader of the region in the issues of the rule of law, formation of free, legal society and democratic institutions.

The Kyrgyz side invited the Swedish side to take part in the first EU-CA Economic Forum, to be held in Bishkek on July 9-10, 2020.

Note that, on Jan. 29 the Swedish delegation has already met with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Speaker of the Parliament Dastanbek Dzhumabekov.

Also, Bishkek hosted on Wednesday meeting of Kyrgyz and Swedish MPs.
