Bishkek, Sept. 30, 2024. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh Ulan Primov met on Monday with Second Vice President of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation Pierre-André Page, the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament reported.
The meeting was also attended by head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of Jogorku Kenesh on cooperation with Switzerland Ulugbek Ormonov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues in the spheres of interparliamentary, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Ulan Primov noted that Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland are reliable partners in both bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
“There is not a single unresolved problem between our countries today. Cooperation on a wide range of issues is developing dynamically. A clear example of this is the trade turnover for 2023, which amounted to a record USD 1.1 billion,” he emphasized.
He also reminded that parliamentary friendship groups have been formed in the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland, noting the need to intensify their work.
Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Jogorku Kenesh on Cooperation with Switzerland Ulugbek Ormonov noted that mutual visits of parliamentary friendship groups contribute to further strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
In turn, Pierre-André Page expressed readiness to assist in further expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. He paid special attention to the development of ties in the field of culture, adding that his visit to Kyrgyzstan is also related to the organization of a performance in the republic of the orchestra “Landwehr”, whose president he is.
At the end of the meeting, the parties, emphasizing the significant potential of cooperation between the two countries, expressed their readiness to assist in expanding bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland.
