Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2022 . / Kabar / . Heads of the State Committees for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan - Kamchybek Tashiev and Tajikistan - Saimumin Yatimov agreed on a ceasefire at 4 p.m., the Border Service of the State Committe for National Security of Kyrgyzstan said.
On Sept. 14, Tajikistan showed armed aggression by attacking Kyrgyz border outposts and settlements. On Sept. 16, the Tajik side, violating all previously reached agreements, again attacked border and civilian facilities along the entire perimeter of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border in the Batken region.
At the moment, Tajikistan continues to pull heavy military equipment into the conflict area and uses heavy armored vehicles, multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and aircraft, trying to capture the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. The surroundings of Batken airport and objects on the outskirts of the city were also shelled. The Tajik side uses civilians as human shields. People in an unknown form without identification marks also take part in the clashes.
Kyrgyzstan calls on the Tajik side to cease fire and direct all efforts to de-escalate the armed conflict and maintain peace and stability on the jointly guarded border.
