Kyrgyzstan takes measures to improve road safety

Bishkek, July 31 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev signed the Decision of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic "On measures to improve road safety in the Kyrgyz Republic", the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.

The dynamics of the main accident rates indicates a high level of road traffic injuries in the country and its upward trend.

The reasons for the unfavorable situation with road safety are: motorization of the population, inadequate road infrastructure, low driving culture, outdated traffic control and monitoring devices, commercialization of road safety systems and obtaining driver's licenses.

The law obliges promptly implement a set of measures aimed at ensuring road safety, which includes: automation activities in the field of road safety, management measures, legislative measures, improving the road infrastructure, medical provision of road safety, conducting information campaigns and raising public awareness.

The meeting of the Security Council, where the decision was adopted, was held on July 17, 2017, under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz President.
