Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2020. /Kabar/. Director of the National Library of Kyrgyzstan named after Alykul Osmonov Jyldyz Bakashova took part in the “175th anniversary of Abai Kunanbaev” International Symposium, which was held in the framework of the Year of Abai, declared by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY).
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz National Library, the Institute of Turkic World Studies of the Aegean University and the Research Institute Academy of Abai at Gumilyov Eurasian National University organized this event with the assistance of TURKSOY.
Addressing the virtual event, Bakashova noted the work of Abai left its indelible mark on the spiritual life of the Kyrgyz people.
The director of the Kyrgyz National Library also drew attention to interesting historical moments related to the work of the great poet and Kyrgyz literature - the publication of his first book in 1954 in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the first translation of Abai's poems by outstanding Kyrgyz poet Aaly Tokombayev.
The interest of Kyrgyzstanis in the spiritual heritage of great Abai continues in the present stage of life.
As part of the announced Abai year, the National Library of Kyrgyzstan organized a series of events in 2020 - an international online conference "The value of the literary and spiritual heritage of great Abai Kunanbaev," together with the Kazakh Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, opening a book and illustrative exhibition, as well as the creation of a video dedicated to the work and life of Abai.
