Kyrgyzstan to allocate KGS 3.5B to conduct spring field work

Bishkek, Feb. 7, 2022. / Kabar /. The Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Ecology and Regional Development of the Jogorku Kenesh heard information from the Cabinet of Ministers on preparations for the spring field and economic works in 2022.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Aziz Aaliev and Minister of Agriculture Askarbek Dzhanybekov presented information on this issue.

It was pointed out that about KGS 1 billion are allocated for repair of irrigation systems and other relevant measures, about KGS 1,5 billion are provided for purchase of seeds, relevant agreements were concluded. About KGS 1 billion are planned to be allocated for purchase of mineral fertilizers. It is planned to increase sown area up to 180 thousand hectares.

During the discussion, deputy Sultanbai Aizhigitov raised the issue of the action plan to ensure food security, the number of seed and breeding farms.

"Emphasis should be placed on the establishment of own production", he noted.

MP Aibek Altynbekov raised problematic issues in the sphere of providing farmers with quality seeds, lack of irrigation water, volume of water in the Kempir-Abad reservoir.

Deputy Nurbek Alimbekov pointed out that farmers and peasants need seeds, mineral fertilizers, agricultural machinery, fuel and lubricants and concessional loans during spring field work, paying special attention to the mechanisms and terms of credit facilities. In response to a question about concessional loans, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Aziz Aaliev said that KGS 15 billion at 6% per annum are envisaged.
