Bishkek, Jan. 14, 2021 /Kabar/. The Ministry of Labour and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic developed a new version of the Regulation on Foster Family, which has already been approved by the Government of Kyrgyzstan.

At a press conference at Kabar News Agency, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Labour and Social Development Aliza Soltonbekovna said that the new version contains more effective approaches to the development and implementation of an individual plan for the protection of the child, including the foster parents themselves in this process.

Thus, starting from this year, the new version of the Regulation provides a form of funding based on the cost of living for child support and foster parent remuneration, as established by the National Statistical Committee of the republic for the 4th quarter of last year.

“According to the National Statistics Committee, the amount of payments to the child will be KGS 9 thousand 402, and the foster parent – KGS 9 thousand 355. In total, the family will receive more than KGS 18 thousand (about USD 224),” the minister added.

The institute of foster families is developing in Kyrgyzstan. The regulation on it started working in 2014.

A foster family is a trained family, which carries out the upbringing of children in difficult situations, for a certain period of time on the basis of a contract.

From 2014 to 2020, more than 200 children received foster care services.
