Bishkek, Jan. 13, 2025. / Kabar /. The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund has begun financing the project to build a modern Kokcho-Koz transport and logistics center (TLC) along the Irkeshtam-Osh-Uzbekistan highway.
The Fund reported that this project is a response to the instruction of the country's leadership to increase the throughput capacity of customs authorities and is aimed at developing the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan.
It is expected that a sharp increase in cargo traffic from China, reaching 500 to 700 trucks per day, will create an increased load on existing logistics capacities.
The construction of the center on a 17-hectare site three kilometers from populated areas will also solve the problem of congestion in Osh caused by the movement of heavy vehicles in the city. The center will meet international standards, which improves customs administration of export and transit cargo, especially in the Kyrgyzstan-Russia direction.
"This modern logistics center will service 500 to 700 vehicles daily, providing a full range of transport and logistics services, including control and customs clearance of cargo, as well as their storage. In addition, 30% of the profit from the center's activities will be transferred to the budget of the Kyrgyz Republic. We are confident that this will not only systematize transport and logistics flows in Irkeshtam, but also relieve the Dostuk customs point," said Chairman of the Board Artem Novikov.
The Kokcho-Koz TLC will become a key transit hub in Central Asia, ensuring the clearance of transit cargo transported from China through Kyrgyzstan, and also creates more than 100 jobs and ensure the receipt of taxes and customs duties in the state budget.
