Kyrgyzstan to extend ban on export of some products until Aug. 1

Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2022 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan is submitting for public discussion a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On Measures to Ensure Food Security of the Kyrgyz Republic”.

According to the document, the purpose of this draft resolution is to introduce a ban on the export of certain types of agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the introduction of quantitative restrictions on exports outside the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic to ensure food security of the republic.

Given the emerging epidemiological situation around the world, a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On Measures to Ensure Food Security of the Kyrgyz Republic" is submitted for consideration.

A temporary ban was imposed for a period of six months from June 23, 2021 on the following agricultural products:

- crop products - wheat and olive, barley, corn, rice, fodder, oats;

- foodstuffs and processing industry products - wheat flour, vegetable oil, granulated sugar;

- livestock products- chicken eggs.

There was also a decrease in imports of agricultural animals to Kyrgyzstan.

In order to avoid negative consequences in the domestic food market, the extension of the ban on the export of certain types of agricultural products for a period of six months, i.e. from Feb.1 to Aug. 1, 2022, was initiated.
