Bishkek, March 24, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will host on Apr. 4 an annual traditional half marathon Jaz Demi 2021 at distances of 5, 10 and 21.1 km. The sporting event is organized by Nomad Sport team.
Director of the Nomad Sport Arslan Maldybaev said this time the marathon will be held with a number of restrictions and compliance with the social distance due to the circumstances related to COVID-19.
Participants will be given masks and leaflets on epidemiological safety at the place of the half marathon, which starts from the Aska-Tash Memorial Complex.
“Of course, we are closely monitoring the epidemiological situation in the country, and if it does not worsen and there are no serious restrictions, we hope to hold the marathon. We have taken all the necessary sanitary and epidemiological measures. There were a lot of people who wanted to take part in the marathon but we've set the limit of 2500 people, and the acceptance of applications has already finished. Every year the marathon becomes more and more popular and turns into a family and corporate event, when the whole family runs together," he said.
Maldybaev added the spring half marathon will be part of a string of sporting events planned in Kyrgyzstan this year. These are The Night Half Marathon (June 19), the Issyk-Kul Swim (Aug. 8), the Save the Snow Leopard Charity Race (Sept. 26) and the Autumn Bike Race.
"Holding large-scale sporting events also creates a positive image of the country on the international arena. Another important goal the company considers education, showing the least expensive and most effective means of moral and physical improvement of both the person himself, his environment and the nation as a whole,” the director of the Nomad Sport concluded.
