Bishkek, Feb. 9, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will host for the first time rating Asian and Oceania Judo Championship, the press service of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of the republic said.
At a press conference on Tuesday, director of the State Agency Kanat Shabdanbayev said the Championship is being held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time.
"This is a significant event for Kyrgyz judo. The tournament will be held on Apr. 6-9 at the Gazprom to Children sports and fitness complex in Bishkek. This championship is a rating for the Olympic Games. 400-500 athletes from over 30 countries of Asia and Oceania are expected to take part in it. To date, the official tournament regulations have been approved, according to which the full preparation for a successful championship is underway," the director said.
President of the Kyrgyz Judo Federation Zholdoshbek Kolbayev noted the championship will be held in accordance with the algorithm approved by the International Judo Federation.
"The championship will be held without spectators. But live broadcasts and a fan zone will be organized for fans and judo lovers. Our specialists have already begun work to ensure compliance with sanitary and epidemiological norms," Kolbayev said.
He added the congress of the Asian Judo Federation will also take place as part of the event's program.
