Kyrgyzstan to host international forum on investment in healthcare

Bishkek, May 27, 2024. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and WHO signed a memorandum on holding the Central Asian International Health Investment Forum.

Within the framework of the 77th session of the World Assembly in Geneva, Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Alymkadyr Beishenaliev and the Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, Hans Kluge, signed a memorandum of understanding. This document marked the beginning of preparations for the first Central Asian International Health Investment Forum.

The memorandum is aimed at the joint organization of this significant event. The forum will be held in Bishkek on June 26-27 under the patronage of President Sadyr Zhaparov.

In 2022, health ministers from five Central Asian countries adopted a road map to support health and well-being in the region for 2022-2025. This document, approved by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan at the fifth consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia, held on September 14, 2023 in Tajikistan, defines the strategic course for investment in healthcare.

WHO member states are expected to adopt the 14th WHO Global Program of Work in 2024. To support the implementation of this ambitious program, WHO and the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic are organizing the first-ever Central Asian International Health Investment Forum. The goal of the forum is to create long-term opportunities to improve healthcare in Central Asia.

Minister of Health Alymkadyr Beishenaliev noted that the signing of the memorandum and the holding of the forum open new horizons for cooperation and investment activities aimed at improving public health and developing the healthcare systems of Central Asian countries.
