Kyrgyzstan to host spectacular festival ‘Salbuurun’

Bishkek, July 31, 2024 . / Kabar / . The village of Bokonbaevo in Ton region in Issyk-Kul will host on Aug.3 'Salbuurun' festival.

The festival will take place on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, co-organizer of the festival Sergey Glukhoverov said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.

He noted that this event has already been held for many years, but previously came in the format of a competition.

"We want to combine these competitions with national folklore, handicrafts and various show programs so that it becomes a big holiday where tourists can get acquainted with Kyrgyz culture," Glukhoverov said.

The co-organizer of the event emphasized that until Aug. 3, local competitions were held across Kyrgyzstan, the best archers, berkutchi and taiga fighters were selected. The best ones will take part in the festival in the final battle.

Representative of the Salbuurun Federation Aida Akmatova noted that since 2006, Almaz Akun, President of the Salbuurun Federation, has been reviving the tradition left by our ancestors.

The festival will be attended by about 100 archers, golden eagles and taiga archers.

The program will include the following:

- exhibition of birds of prey (golden eagle, falcon);

- performance of berkutchi, demonstration of hunting skills of golden eagle, falcon;

- exhibition of traditional bows and hunting trophies;

- performance of master archers;

- exhibition of Kyrgyz taigans;

- performance of taigan breeders (show);

- exhibition of artists and craftsmen;

- archery competition among the guests;

- awarding by nomination;

- folklore concert.

The purpose of this festival is to popularize Kyrgyz national games, traditions and customs.
