Bishkek, Dec. 5, 2023. / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan plans to toughen penalties for linking and propaganda of organized crime groups. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has submitted a corresponding bill for public discussion.
The scale of organized crime in the republic currently poses a real threat to public and national security.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of active members of organized criminal groups on the territory of the republic is more than 400 people.
Meanwhile, preventive measures such as official warnings, placement on operational and preventive registers, verification of financial and property status, as well as court-imposed obligations listed in the Law do not give a full-fledged result in the fight against organized crime.
Thus, criminal liability is incurred for persons who engage in covert propaganda of the ideas of organized groups or criminal communities on a systematic (professional) basis and whose ultimate goal is to induce participation in criminal activity and who wish such consequences to occur.
It is assumed that this norm, if adopted, will serve as an effective lever for prevention of propaganda of organized groups or criminal communities among the population, especially among young people.
