Bishkek, March 26, 2024. / Kabar/. Minister of Education and Science Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva described how the 12-year education system will be introduced in schools of Kyrgyzstan.
According to her, the integration will be gradual: “We will gradually introduce this system so that children are not overloaded. We've been working on this for years. This has been planned for several years. The transformation of the education system is aimed at updating the content of school education, improving its structure, aimed at training competitive youth, integration into the global educational space.”
Rector of the Kyrgyz National University named after Zhusup Balasagyn Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov said that the education system in Kyrgyzstan needs to change because many aspects of this system have remained unchanged since Soviet times and do not meet modern requirements and challenges. This includes outdated teaching methods, insufficient use of information technology, insufficient preparation for labor market requirements, and others. The model of a 12-year education system will provide better quality of education, prepare students for modern realities and increase their competitiveness in the labor market.
“We keep up with the times in economics and culture, but why should we lag behind in education? Our children should also have the opportunity to study at world universities and be competitive. They shouldn't waste a year. We must create conditions for them,” he said.
